DEVELOPING SOUTHERN CIVIL SOCIETY ADVOCACY IN WATER AND SANITATION IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA, SOUTH ASIA AND CENTRAL AMERICA (DFID GOVERNANCE AND TRANSPARENCY FUND PROJECT)- GTF

OBJECTIVES:

To increase the capacity of the civil society in Bangladesh to engage in effective dialogue with decision-makers on water and sanitation issues. 

EXPECTED RESULTS :

  • To improve the Accountability and Responsiveness of Government and service providers in the water and sanitation sector in Bangladesh.

IMPLEMENTATION AREA:

Selected 7 upazilas under Moulvibazar district of Sylhet division of Bangladesh

  • District Consultation to Review the Existing WatSan Policy & Strategy Documents
  • Orientation of LGIs on the Technique of Influencing the Policy-makers for Adequate WatSan Facilities
  • Observance of National & International Day (World Water Day) in Collaboration with Local Administration, LGIs & CSOs at District Level
  • Orientation of Civil Society Organization Representatives on Sector Policies
  • Consultation with the Media to Influence the Policy-makers Towards Creating a Budget Line for WatSan with Adequate Financial Provision
  • Advocacy Meeting with the Upazila (Sub-district) Sanitation Task Force
  • Advocacy Meeting with District Sanitation Task Force
  • Orientation of Local Allies (Teachers & Religious Leaders) on Health and Hygiene
  • Training for Community Leaders on Health & Hygiene
  • Advocacy Meeting with LGIs & CSO Representatives at UP Level
  • Orientation Workshop for Partners/ Yearly Review Meeting of Partners
  • Capacity Building Training for Partners/ NGO & CSO Coordination Meeting
  • Development & publication of Project Brochure
