Household Survey Conducted in Bangladesh

Between August-September 2021, a household survey covering 900 farmers across 60 villages in the Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Bogura districts of North Bengal was conducted by our partner NGO Forum. Villages with and without any solar pumps were included in the sample. The survey aims to measure the impact of solar irrigation pumps on the livelihoods of small and marginal water buying farmers in Northwestern Bangladesh. In preparation, NGO Forum conducted a training of the enumerators from 13-19 August 2021 with 20 field enumerators at their Regional Training Centre at Rangpur. Researchers from IWMI attended the training session virtually. The household survey proved challenging amidst the pandemic and monsoons, yet it was carried out successfully from 21 August to 9 September 2021.
