Observation of International Women's Day 2022

Observation of International Women's Day 2022 at Camp 6 & 7, Kutupalong, Ukhiya,Cox's Bazar.

Today (8th March 2022) is International Women’s Day. This years’ theme is “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” & the campaign theme is #BreakTheBias. As part of observing this event, NGO Forum for Public Health with support from UNICEF has organized mini discussions sessions with its all MHM Facilitators Groups at the sub-block level of camps 6 & 7. Currently, in camps 6 & 7 each sub-block has 1 MHM Facilitators Group & each group consists of 7 members (community adolescent girls & adult women with reproductive age group) who are working as peer educators among other community girls & women for the self-regulatory awareness-raising activities on safe MHM practices. In total 86 discussion events have been held with 86 groups where 588 participants (172 adolescent girls & 416 adult women) were attended. Community Hygiene Promoters along with Community Hygiene Volunteers discussed the importance of - observing IWD, gender inclusion in WASH, women's meaningful participation & role in effective community engagement & sustainable behavior change, etc. through supervision of Hygiene Promotion Officers. Technical Manager - Hygiene & project’s Gender Focal Mr. Naim Ahamed was also present there as an observer. He thanked the participants for attending these events.
