On January 18, 2023, The Honorable Ambassador of Japan to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Kiminori IWAMA; Economic Researcher, and Advisor, Mr. Kato Atsushi, Second Secretary of Embassy of Japan; Mr. Iwasaki Daichi visited the Training & Production center of Camp 2E, along with Principal Situation Coordinator, UNHCR, Cox’s Bazar, Ms. Yoko Akasaka, and Livelihoods Unit team of UNHCR. The Project Coordinator of NGO Forum, Mr. Ataur Rahman, the Camp in Charge of camp 2E, Mr. Sayed Iqbal, and the Central personnel welcomed them to the center. As they walked around this production center, Mr. Subrata Kumar Chakrabarty gave them an insight into the reusable pad manufacturing process as well as the materials that were used in the production. They also inspected the ongoing skill development training on Sewing Machine Operation. Mr. Ambassador spoke with the refugee women who worked at this production facility in a focus group discussion, and the refugee women discussed how these activities are changing their day-to-day lives and what changes in the production process they are seeing after the UNIQLO project engagement, and how the changes are smoothing their production process. The refugee women also expressed to them that this opportunity improved their skills, as they learned new things and organized the production process after engaging in the UNIQLO project, as well as the earnings from this work helped them meet the needs of their families. The Ambassador expressed his contentment prior to the visit.
