City Sanitation and Faecal Sludge Management Learning Sharing" event has been organized

NGO Forum for Public Health arranged a "City Sanitation and Faecal Sludge Management Learning Sharing" event on the 22nd of June, 2023 at CIRDAP International Conference Centre. NGO Forum has been implementing a project "Resilient, Inclusive & Innovative Cities in Bangladesh" at Mymensingh City Corporation funded by Australian Aid with technical support from OXFAM.

This dialogue was arranged with the vision to start multi-stakeholder conversation on the challenges of the sanitation sector nationally and to reach a consensus on the way-forward. The learning-sharing housed esteemed guests ranging from the Honorable Minister & MP Md Tazul Islam, Local Government & Rural Development, Mayor Ekramul Haque Titu, Mymensingh City Corporation, SMA Rashid, Executive Director, NGO Forum for Public Health, First Secretary Nayoka Martinez-Bäckström, Embassy of Sweden, and Shofiqul Alam, WASH Specialist UNICEF.

The keynote presentation was delivered by the esteemed Director & Professor Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, ITN-BUET & BUET. He reflected on the importance of “City Wide Inclusive Sanitation” agenda which is required for urban areas and reflected on Mymensingh’s Faecal Sludge Management journey; and the importance of having enthusiastic participation of local government institutes and government representatives to successfully reach goals which has been observed in Mymensingh.

The event ended with the Honorable Minister assuring on government’s support on improving the service delivery in the sanitation sector and the Mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation advocating for government subsidy for the operation & maintenance of the FSTP and thanked NGO Forum for working tirelessly for the people of Mymensingh and working alongside him.
