On the 25th of September, 2023, NGO Forum for Public Health hosted a field programme visit at Chapainawabganj.

The visit had the gracious presence of Mr. Sanjay Wijesekera (Regional Director of UNICEF), Mr. Sheldon Yett (Country Representative of UNICEF Bangladesh), Mr. AH Towfique Ahmed (Chief Field Officer Rajshahi & Rangpur Division, UNICEF), Mr. Jashim Uddin Haider (Additional Commissionar- General, Rajshahi), Ms. Mst. Tasmina Khatun (UNO Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila), Mr. Md. Jubaer Jahangir (Additional Commissionar and Executive Magistrate- Fundamental Training, DC office, Chapainawabganj), Mr. Amit Kumar Sharker (Executive Engineer, DPHE, Chapainawabganj), Mr. Md. Nahid Islam (Chairman- Maharajpur Union) and other dignitaries and people of the community. The guests were welcomed to the Project area to see the interventions and share their valuable insight; they were welcomed by the NGO Forum team at Chapainawabganj led by Mr. Toriqul Islam, Head of Programme Operation NGO Forum for Public Health. NGO Forum has been implementing the Project “Strengthening community capacity and arsenic mitigation initiatives to ensure drinking water safety for all” and the visitors were invited to see the project interventions as Chapainawabganj is the place where arsenic contamination in the groundwater was first found in Bangladesh.
