On 8 March ,2025 At the Gender-Responsive Coastal Adaptation (GCA) Project Office of NGO Forum for Public Health, we enthusiastically celebrated International Women’s Day, bringing together our project staff and community members for a day of reflection, learning, and commitment to the theme: “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”

One of the most impactful activities of the day was the role reversal exercise, where men and women exchanged traditional roles. This powerful experience emphasized the significance of household work and mutual respect, sparking meaningful conversations on breaking social norms and fostering gender equality. The lessons learned were shared with other families within the community, further promoting awareness and change.

To deepen the impact, under the leadership of MOWCA and the Upazila administrations of Dacope, Paikgacha, and Koyra in Khulna district, as well as Assasuni and Shyamnagar in Satkhira district, an Upazila-level discussion session was organized, bringing together key stakeholders. During this session, 25 families were recognized as Role Reversal Champions and honored with crests from the UNO’s office, acknowledging their commitment to challenging gender norms and promoting equality.

At our project office, our dedicated staff gathered for a heartfelt discussion—sharing personal experiences, challenges, and aspirations. From reflecting on the journeys of female colleagues to making personal commitments toward a more inclusive future, the discussion reinforced that gender equality is not just about one day of celebration but an ongoing commitment. Their dedication is evident in their efforts to create a safe and empowering workspace for women while actively advocating for gender rights.
