Implementation of Water and Sanitation integrity projects in Bangladesh |
NGO Forum and Water Integrity Network (WIN) have worked together over the last five years and established a successful collaboration with the aim to strengthening integrity measures and processes within the Water Supply and Sewerage Authorities (WASAs) in Bangladesh. A water and sanitation integrity projects have already been implemented in three WASAs Rajshahi WASA, Khulna WASA and Chattogram WASA in and successfully introduced the IM tools.
This project aims to drive meaningful reform in the water sector through policy advocacy to promote Integrity Management and inclusion of disability and youth. Although policies exist, they often prove ineffective, necessitating reform to align with the current context. NGO Forum is dedicated to safeguarding the rights of all citizens, particularly those who are impoverished and vulnerable, ensuring their access to clean water and sanitation for sustenance and livelihoods. NGO Forum will focus on the reducing water integrity risks at the informal settlements, in line with the previous achievements through implementing same nature of projects at Rajshahi WASA, Khulna WASA and Chattogram WASA.
The project will be implemented in two city corporations located in two different geo-physical contexts which are Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) and Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC), both are comparatively new city corporations. As the new city corporations both have numerous challenges to address and scopes of further enhancement of their performance.
