The goal of the project is to improve health, quality of life & livelihoods as well as the overall WatSan situation of poor and disadvantaged urban communities.

Objectives

1. To facilitate environmental and social consciousness with the focus of solid and liquid waste management in the selected communities of Chittagong City Corporation and develop a city wide improved waste management plan involving all range of related stakeholders, NGOs and local community.
2. Facilitate local partners to build their capacity to undertake local level CBO capacity building and advocacy work on behalf of poor and marginalized.
3. Separate budget allocation for slum development by CCC, CWASA & CDA.
4. Small scale hardware support and strengthen management system of cost sharing money utilization within the selected communities
5. Facilities the opportunities of existing achievements of ASEH through formal and information sharing of the best practice. 

Considering the sufferings of the poor and disadvantage community due to lack of safe drinking water, environmental sanitation, basic hygiene situation in the selected urban slum of Chittagong City Corporation, NGO Forum for Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation in association with it’s Partner Organizations initiate a joint action to execute Advancing Sustainable Environmental Health (ASEH) project. In the selected areas of Chittagong City with a view to improve health, quality of life & livelihoods as well as the overall WatSan situation of poor and disadvantaged urban communities by the support of WaterAid Bangladesh and has successfully completed the project. Processes of income generation for mechanics were introduced by handing over them a complete set of tool box with certificates and providing their address and mobile no in CBO level, commissioners office and others public places so that they can introduce them as mechanic to the community and earn.  NGOF Forum developed a group of mechanics (20 nos.) and made a formal linkage with CBO & LGI among the working area and ensures a process of income for mechanics. ASEH which has been undertaken to improve the health, quality of life & livelihood as well as the overall WatSan situation of poor and disadvantage communities.

It was an attempt to link project interventions with changes in health and livelihood status, in the following form:

• People wash their hands properly at critical times
• Fewer incidences of diarrhoeal diseases
• Economic benefit
• ASEH contributes in reducing poverty
