| Integrated Community Based Arsenic Mitigation Programme (ICBAMP both 2 Phase) |
The primary objective of the project was to improve local livelihoods and socio-economic conditions in climate-vulnerable landscapes and among the country’s poorest populations. The project aimed to enhance the overall quality of life for arsenic groundwater-affected communities. Climate-resilient livelihood strategies were piloted, and alternative income-generating activities (IGAs) were introduced in selected vulnerable areas, contributing to enhanced livelihood opportunities.
The project also focused on increasing women’s participation in income-generating activities, improving access to WASH facilities for women and girls, and ensuring gender-sensitive interventions. It supported inclusive decision-making in community development projects, empowering local populations. In addition, the project placed special focus on a number of strategic issues that helped reduce the risk of upcoming public health hazards, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of livelihoods in the targeted communities.
